On Saturday, around 50 parents protested outside Wisdom Tree School in Sector 16B, Greater Noida, against a proposed fee increase of up to 60% for the 2026-27 academic session. The school management, however, stated that the increase complies with the 7.23% cap mandated by the Uttar Pradesh State Government Fee Regulatory Act for self-financed schools. Parents alleged that the school initially offered lower fees to attract students, only to raise them significantly later. Anubha Bhaskar, a parent, indicated that discussions with around 270 parents revealed fee hikes ranging from 20% to 60%. Virendar Kumar, head of the parents' committee, accused the school of presenting a falsified fee structure to the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) during a visit. In response to the protest, DIOS representatives assured parents that an inquiry committee would be established to investigate the claims. Officials have warned that any violations of the fee cap could result in penalties, including fines up to ₹1 lakh (approximately $1,200 USD) for first-time offenses. The protest concluded with parents awaiting a response from the DIOS regarding their concerns.
