The National Testing Agency (NTA), with the Government of India's approval, has cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination, which was scheduled for May 3, due to serious integrity concerns. This decision follows scrutiny over the credibility of the examination process, particularly after the NEET-UG 2025 faced allegations of irregularities and disruptions. The examination has been marred by issues such as biometric authentication glitches and power outages at various centres, which have raised questions about examination security and administrative preparedness. The Government has referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive inquiry into these irregularities. The NTA stated that the cancellation was necessary to maintain public confidence in the examination system, emphasizing that the existing examination process could not continue under the current circumstances. Candidates who registered for the May 2026 examination will retain their registration details and will not need to reapply, while refunds for examination fees will be processed. New dates for the re-examination will be announced shortly.
