In a troubling incident on Route 1 in Peabody, Massachusetts, a State Police trooper was injured when a wrong-way driver collided with a marked police cruiser. The crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday, less than a month after another wrong-way driver struck and killed Trooper Kevin Trainor. The driver, identified as Lucas Gustavo Brajak DeAlmeida Benedetto, 41, from Newburyport, was also hospitalized but later released. Benedetto faces several charges, including operating under the influence and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and is scheduled for arraignment in Peabody District Court.
