Key sectors like petrochemicals have been severely affected, with disruptions to nearly 85% of export capacity, leading to losses between $30 billion and $50 billion. Additionally, energy infrastructure has suffered damages estimated at $15 billion to $25 billion. The overall economic activity is contracting, with experts predicting a GDP shrinkage of over 10%, translating to losses of $34 billion to $44 billion. The situation is further worsened by a nationwide internet shutdown, causing daily losses of $37 million to $42 million, which could escalate to $70 million to $80 million when considering indirect effects. Economic analyst Masoumeh Taherkhani highlighted the cascading impacts across sectors, warning of potential widespread job losses.
