A joint anti-drug operation in Iloilo City, Philippines, led to the arrest of two individuals, identified only by their aliases 'Pipoy' and 'Gerry', who are considered high-value targets in the local drug trade. The operation, conducted in Barangay Sinikway of the Lapuz district on Wednesday afternoon, resulted in the seizure of approximately 230 grams of suspected methamphetamine (shabu), valued at P1,564,000 (roughly $28,000 USD). 'Pipoy', aged 34, is a repeat offender who was released from prison in 2023 after serving time for drug-related charges, while 19-year-old Gerry was found to be involved in the illicit activities alongside him. The arrests followed a meticulous seven-month intelligence gathering effort by the police. Authorities confiscated nine heat-sealed and two knot-tied sachets of suspected shabu, along with buy-bust money and various drug paraphernalia. The operation was spearheaded by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6, supported by several other police divisions. Both suspects are now in police custody, awaiting the filing of charges against them.
