The Chandigarh administration has approved an 8% increase in minimum wages for outsourced and contingent employees, affecting over 20,000 workers in the region. The revised deputy commissioner (DC) rates for the 2026–27 financial year will see salaries for various worker categories rise significantly. For instance, the minimum monthly salary for attendants, chowkidars, and other support staff will increase from ₹22,680 to ₹24,494. Clerical staff will now earn ₹32,701, up from ₹30,850. Additionally, firemen, road inspectors, and security guards will see their wages rise from ₹29,613 to ₹31,982. The administration has also introduced an extra 2% increment on basic wages for outsourced employees who have maintained continuous service for five years as of March 31, 2026. The revised DC rates apply to employees across the UT administration's departments, boards, corporations, and public sector undertakings in Chandigarh, although central government and other offices may opt to adopt these rates.
