Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to appoint 10,000 new teachers through the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) as part of a broader initiative to recruit 20,000 educators to strengthen the Basic Education Council. This announcement was made during a recent event focused on honoring instructors and distributing cheques. The state government will also increase the honorarium for 24,717 part-time instructors from ₹9,000 to ₹17,000 per month, effective from April 1, 2026. Furthermore, instructors will receive health insurance coverage of ₹500,000, enhancing their welfare. Adityanath highlighted the significant progress made since his government took office in 2017, including a reduction in the dropout rate from 17-18% to approximately 3%. He emphasized the importance of nurturing children's talents and introduced a 'Holistic Report Card' for comprehensive assessment of students' development. The chief minister's remarks also included criticism of previous administrations for neglecting the education sector.
