On Wednesday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid the groundwork for a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, with the aim of establishing it as a global medical destination. Key initiatives include the Sanjeevani programme, which integrates predictive, preventive, and curative care, alongside the introduction of digital health records. Naidu highlighted that 42 types of medical tests will be available locally, facilitating timely medical guidance and hospital visits. Additionally, a universal health policy will ensure free treatment up to ₹2.5 lakh (approximately $3,000 USD) for residents. Naidu emphasized that the focus extends beyond merely constructing hospitals to promoting preventive care and healthier lifestyles, which will ultimately reduce hospitalization rates. He recalled the success of medical tourism in Hyderabad during the 1990s and expressed confidence that Amaravati will soon attract patients from around the world. The newly inaugurated Lalitha Super Specialty Hospital, built on seven acres, features 600 beds and provides services across 32 specialties, including cardiology and neurology.
