The Hardoi Cyber Police have successfully dismantled a multi-crore cyber fraud racket, arresting ten individuals, including several BTech students. The gang operated primarily from rented accommodations in Lucknow, targeting victims across Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. They lured individuals through fake online gaming platforms, promising high returns on investments. To establish credibility, some victims received initial payments, funded by money from other victims. The gang employed a sophisticated three-tier structure, with teams managing fake websites, SIM cards, and laundering operations. Additionally, they extorted money through threatening phone calls, claiming victims' relatives were in trouble. The investigation began after a complaint in Hardoi, leading to a raid that resulted in the recovery of four laptops, 26 mobile phones, and numerous forged documents. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena stated that further revelations are expected during interrogations as efforts continue to locate the absconding mastermind and identify additional victims.
