Game Freak, the studio behind the Pokémon franchise, is set to release its latest action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, on August 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game features a young woman named Emma and her dog Koo, navigating a post-apocalyptic Japan that has been overtaken by a mysterious blight. Players will engage in fast-paced combat, utilizing a blend of real-time and turn-based mechanics. Emma's ability to absorb the blight allows her to manipulate the environment, creating pathways and raising plants during battles. Development of the game began in 2020 under the internal initiative known as the Gear Project, aimed at fostering original game ideas. Director Kota Furushima expressed a desire to evoke feelings of loneliness and warmth through the game's narrative. While the game is not open-world, it features larger stages that allow for exploration, striking a balance between linear and open gameplay. With external partners assisting in development, Game Freak aims to deliver a high-quality experience for players.
