Roblox, the popular gaming platform, has appointed Sunil Rao as the Managing Director for its India operations, effective May 2023. Rao, who previously held a senior position at Amazon Web Services (AWS), will oversee the execution of Roblox India's strategy and work closely with local teams and partners. His role will focus on strengthening the company's presence in India, fostering partnerships, and supporting the local creator ecosystem. Rao brings a wealth of experience, having also worked at Lightspeed Venture Partners and played significant roles at Symbian, Nokia, and Google. Roblox's Vice President of International, Zhen Fang, emphasized India's potential as a key market for creator talent, stating that Rao's expertise will be crucial for the company's growth. In his new position, Rao aims to empower developers and creators while prioritizing child safety and compliance with local regulations. He expressed excitement about building a vibrant ecosystem that supports responsible growth in India.
