On Sunday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced the establishment of a state social security board to enhance the social and economic welfare of organized workers, including auto drivers. Speaking at a labor awareness program in Gurugram, Saini emphasized the role of labor as a fundamental pillar of the economy, crucial for achieving the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) by 2047. He highlighted that Haryana is the first state to implement a 35% increase in minimum basic wages, which have risen from ₹2,903 in 2005 to ₹19,425 currently. Additionally, he noted that 54.32 lakh workers are registered on the e-Shram portal, with an incentive of ₹1,100 offered for registration. Saini assured that appointment letters for eligible workers will be distributed by June 15.
