NBCC (India) has initiated the process to appoint an independent third-party agency to monitor the construction quality of two significant general pool residential accommodation (GPRA) redevelopment projects located in Sarojini Nagar and Netaji Nagar, South Delhi. This move is crucial as the projects approach completion, ensuring that the construction meets the necessary safety and engineering standards before occupancy begins. The selected agency will be responsible for conducting quality control and assurance checks on civil, electrical, mechanical, and other allied works across various packages of both projects. Eligibility for the agency is limited to prestigious technical institutions, including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The Sarojini Nagar project spans nearly 258 acres and is part of a broader government initiative approved in 2016 to redevelop aging housing colonies in Delhi. The Netaji Nagar project covers 110 acres and is being executed in seven packages. Both redevelopment efforts are designed to improve government housing availability and incorporate green building features, such as sewage treatment plants and rainwater harvesting systems.
