The India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has officially come into force, marking a pivotal development in bilateral trade relations. This agreement grants Indian exporters duty-free access to 98.08% of Oman's tariff lines, encompassing 99.38% of India's export value. Key sectors poised to benefit include engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and textiles, with immediate duty-free access for products such as natural honey, boneless meat, and frozen fish. Additionally, the CEPA liberalizes entry for Indian professionals and allows 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) for Indian firms in key service sectors. This agreement also makes provisions for traditional medicine and faster marketing authorizations for pharmaceuticals approved by major international regulators. With a backdrop of growing bilateral trade, valued at USD 7.2 billion in fiscal 2026, the CEPA is set to deepen economic ties and create new opportunities for trade and investment between India and Oman.
