The Income Tax Department has informed the Madras High Court that Udhayanidhi Stalin (Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu) did not include a significant investment of ₹7.36 crore in his 2026 election affidavit, which he had previously declared in 2021. This investment pertains to his film production company, Red Giant Movies. Instead, the 2026 affidavit lists a reduced investment of ₹2.63 crore under the name of his spouse, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. The department noted inconsistencies in loan disclosures as well, reporting ₹10 crore in loans for 2026 compared to ₹11.06 crore in 2021, with further discrepancies noted in corporate financial filings. The court has allowed the I-T Department four weeks to conduct a thorough verification of these financial records, as key documents are currently unavailable. Senior advocate V Raghavachari, representing the petitioner, highlighted the serious discrepancies between the two affidavits, including the unexplained changes in asset declarations and loan amounts. Stalin's 2026 affidavit shows movable assets worth ₹12.92 crore and immovable assets of ₹7.72 crore, a decrease from his 2021 declarations of ₹21.13 crore in movable assets and ₹6.54 crore in immovable assets.
