Salim Kumar, the acclaimed Malayalam actor and National Award winner, has passed away at the age of 56 in Kochi. The Kerala government confirmed his death, expressing profound grief and recognizing his significant contributions to Indian cinema. Kumar was celebrated for his versatile performances across more than 300 films, earning the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his role in 'Adaminte Makan Abu'. His career also included notable accolades such as the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor for 'Achanurangatha Veedu' in 2005. The government has arranged for his mortal remains to be available for public homage at Paravur Town Hall on June 7, followed by his funeral at his residence in North Paravur. As a mark of respect, official honors will be rendered during the funeral, including a wreath from the District Collector and a bugle salute from the District Police Chief. Salim Kumar is survived by his wife Sunitha and their two sons, including actor Chandu Salim Kumar.
