Following an electoral setback in Kannur district, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) is grappling with internal debates over leadership. Flex boards demanding changes in leadership roles have appeared in the Dharmadam and Taliparamba Assembly constituencies, featuring senior leaders P. Jayarajan and M. Swaraj. The CPI(M) district secretariat criticized these campaigns, asserting they serve as tools for political opponents to defame the party. In a statement, the secretariat emphasized the importance of internal discussions to address the recent electoral defeat, highlighting the party's established mechanisms for rectifying shortcomings. Jayarajan publicly condemned the glorification campaigns and urged party members to express their opinions through internal channels rather than on social media. He stressed that open discussions on social media could harm the party's unity and effectiveness. The CPI(M) leadership has committed to addressing the electoral challenges and believes in the party's resilience to emerge stronger from this phase.
