Lebanon and Israel are set to meet in Washington to discuss extending a fragile ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel, which is scheduled to expire shortly. Since the conflict reignited on March 2, over 2,400 people have died in Lebanon due to Israeli military actions. The Lebanese delegation aims to negotiate an extension of the ceasefire and discuss broader issues, including the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the return of Lebanese detainees. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has described the talks as a historic opportunity, while also criticizing Lebanon's government and calling for cooperation against Hezbollah. The meeting will be attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with both countries hoping to establish a more stable peace framework.
