Khalid Jamil, the head coach of India's senior men's football team, has announced a 28-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London, taking place from May 26 to 30. The squad consists of four goalkeepers and eight forwards, reflecting player performances in the Indian Super League (ISL). The Blue Tigers will gather in Bengaluru for a short training camp after the ISL concludes, before departing for London on May 24. India, currently ranked 136th in FIFA rankings, will compete against 71st-ranked Jamaica, 26th-ranked Nigeria, and 130th-ranked Zimbabwe. The team is set to face Jamaica in the second semifinal on May 27, with the final and third-place match scheduled for May 30. Jamil expressed that this tournament serves as a vital preparation for future competitions, including the SAFF Championship later this year, and highlighted the benefits of playing against stronger opponents to boost the players' confidence.
