Following the recent Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Thalapathy Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has convened a meeting with party executives and newly elected MLAs, who have unanimously elected him as their leader and chief ministerial candidate. Although the TVK did not secure a clear majority, they are preparing to stake a claim to form the government. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is expected to invite the TVK to present their claim and may require them to prove their majority in the Assembly. The party is actively seeking alliances with other political entities but is unlikely to partner with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) due to their ideological opposition. Meanwhile, the AIADMK is contemplating support for the TVK, reflecting an anti-DMK sentiment among voters, but their leadership has yet to make a definitive decision. The Congress party, part of the INDIA Bloc, is also assessing its position regarding a potential alliance with the TVK, with key leaders set to meet in New Delhi to discuss the situation further.
