Blandair Regional Park - West in Columbia, Maryland, has officially opened its sixth phase of improvements, introducing a range of new recreational facilities. The highlight is a 15,000-square-foot lighted skatepark, which is designed to accommodate various wheeled sports and skill levels. Additionally, the park now boasts six lighted pickleball courts, bringing the county's total to 22 dedicated outdoor courts, reflecting the growing popularity of the sport. Two new lighted basketball courts have also been added, responding to community requests for accessible play areas. Howard County Executive Calvin Ball emphasized the park's role as a premier recreational destination, attracting over a million visitors annually. The park features extensive amenities, including synthetic turf fields, playgrounds, and a challenge course, and plans for further expansions are underway, with at least three more phases planned to enhance the park's offerings even more. The improvements aim to create more opportunities for residents to engage in sports and recreational activities.
