Pahlaj Nihalani, the veteran film producer and former chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), passed away at the age of 76 at his home in Mumbai. Govinda, who attended the funeral at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium, reflected on Nihalani's significant impact on his career, stating that he was a foundational figure for many artists who faced financial hardships. Govinda expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement he received from Nihalani, highlighting his rare ability to identify and nurture talent. He stated, "There must be at least a dozen artists in the country whose careers were shaped by his guidance." Nihalani, who had been suffering from a prolonged illness, was instrumental in Govinda's rise to stardom through films like 'Ilzaam' (1986), 'Shola Aur Shabnam' (1992), and 'Aankhen' (1993). Despite Govinda's later struggles in the industry, Nihalani remained a guiding force. Many notable figures from the film industry, including Farhan Akhtar and Varun Dhawan, were present to pay their respects.
