The Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation has called on the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Maharashtra, India, to recover water costs from builders who have not honored their commitments since 2019. The federation argues that residents have been unfairly burdened with these expenses, as several developers had promised to provide water at their own cost during project approvals. This issue was highlighted in a meeting with PCMC officials, following municipal commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi's announcement of potential actions against non-compliant developers. The federation is pushing for immediate recovery of costs and strict penalties for builders who fail to comply, including criminal charges and restrictions on future construction. Sanjeevan Sangale, chairman of the Chikhali Moshi Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation, emphasized the need for accountability, stating that the administration's inaction would perpetuate injustice towards citizens. The Water Supply Department of PCMC is currently addressing these grievances and will determine a course of action after consulting with residents across the city.
