Haryana's Labour Minister Anil Vij announced that the portal IDs of genuine construction workers will soon be reactivated after a probe into the alleged work-slip scam. This investigation revealed that out of 2,178,523 work slips examined, only 270,945 were valid, with a staggering 90% identified as fraudulent. The scam is estimated to cost the state around ₹1,500 crore (approximately $180 million USD). To address the issues faced by workers, a grievance committee will be established at the district level. The investigation, which spanned 22 districts and covered the last two years, will also look into benefits availed by laborers since 2008. Vij had previously requested Chief Minister Nayab Saini to initiate a probe, leading to the formation of a committee to investigate the disbursement of funds to fake workers.
