Rane's comments were prompted by allegations against AIMIM corporator Mateen Majid Patel, who is accused of providing shelter to Nida Khan, the main suspect in a religious conversion and sexual harassment case in Nashik, Maharashtra. Rane criticized AIMIM's impact in the constituencies it represents, asserting that their manifesto promotes a singular agenda of 'Jihad'. In response, AIMIM leaders, including Waris Pathan, condemned Rane's remarks and demanded his removal from the Maharashtra cabinet, questioning his authority to make such statements against a seasoned politician like Owaisi.
