A devastating fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, around 3:15 am on Sunday, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least nine people. Eyewitness accounts describe a scene of panic as the flames spread rapidly, trapping residents in their sleep. A local resident, Rohit, speculated that an air conditioner blast might have ignited the fire, although this has not been officially confirmed. Rescue efforts were complicated by the rapid spread of the blaze, which engulfed at least six flats. Fire department officials reported that 12 fire tenders were deployed to control the situation, rescuing approximately 10-15 individuals, some of whom were taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, several victims remain unaccounted for, and authorities are conducting DNA testing for identification.
