The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the majority mark in the West Bengal elections, potentially ending the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) 15-year rule under Mamata Banerjee. Business magnate Harsh Goenka, chairperson of the RPG Group, expressed his enthusiasm on social media, stating that the business community in Bengal is 'absolutely delighted' with the election results. He anticipates that the BJP's governance will prioritize development and job creation, fostering a more cohesive social climate. Currently, the BJP is leading in 192 seats, while the TMC has 94. This election could pave the way for the BJP to form its first government in West Bengal, a significant shift considering the state's political history, which includes 34 years of Communist rule prior to the TMC. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla commented on the election's implications for the opposition, noting that the results reveal deep divisions within the 'INDI' alliance led by Rahul Gandhi.
