As the counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approaches, actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is set to play a crucial role in the state's political landscape. This election marks a significant shift with a triangular contest, where TVK is projected to win between 98-120 seats in the 234-member assembly according to exit polls by Axis My India. If these projections hold true, Vijay may seek alliances with either the Congress party, which contested 28 seats, or the AIADMK, although he has publicly ruled out partnerships with the BJP due to ideological differences. In various scenarios, TVK could emerge as a kingmaker, potentially supporting either the DMK or forming a government with outside support from the AIADMK. If Vijay secures a full majority, it would eliminate the need for coalitions, marking a historic moment for the party. K.A. Sengottaiyan, Chief Coordinator of the TVK Executive Committee, expressed confidence in winning at least 180 seats, dismissing the notion of a hung assembly.
