In April, net investments in equity mutual fund schemes in India stood at ₹38,440 crore, a 5% decrease from March's peak of ₹40,450 crore but still well above the average monthly inflows over the past year. This stability in inflows occurred alongside a 16% drop in gross inflows, totaling ₹70,302 crore, while redemptions eased significantly, falling 26% to ₹31,862 crore, marking the lowest level in eight months. Himanshu Srivastava from Morningstar Investment Research India noted that despite lower inflows, the trend reflects strong domestic investor sentiment amid global uncertainties. The equity market rebounded in April, with the Nifty 50 index rising 7%, and smallcap indices performing even better, gaining over 17%. Flexicap, midcap, and smallcap funds attracted the majority of investments, together accounting for 61% of active equity net inflows, with flexicap funds alone drawing more than ₹10,000 crore. However, systematic investment plan (SIP) inflows saw a 3% decrease month-on-month to ₹31,115 crore, attributed to market volatility and adjustments from previous months. Overall, the mutual fund industry's assets under management increased by 11% month-on-month, bolstered by strong inflows and market gains.
