Residents of Losingi, Kotha Singi, and Peddaguruvu villages in Arla panchayat, Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, protested due to delays in road construction that were funded with ₹2.5 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The protestors, part of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Khond, expressed frustration over the lack of access to their villages, particularly during medical emergencies when ambulances cannot reach their hilltop locations. Although local MLA inaugurated the road works in January 2025, only partial earthwork and gravel laying were completed before the project was abandoned, with heavy rains further damaging the temporary formations. Villagers have resorted to carrying pregnant women on makeshift stretchers to reach medical facilities. Leaders from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) have demanded the completion of the road works and the construction of durable concrete ramps in steep areas.
