The project aims to rehabilitate over one million residents and construct more than 125,000 housing units over the next seven to eight years. Spanning around 600 acres in central Mumbai, Dharavi is known as Asia's largest slum. The redevelopment will cover a rehabilitation area of 95 million square feet, with half of the housing units planned to be constructed within Dharavi itself, while the remainder will be distributed across six areas in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. HSBC outlines that Adani has set clear milestones, with the first building expected to be handed over by December 2026 and approximately 30,000 units anticipated to be under construction in the fiscal year 2027.
