In a significant development, Kalpana Kodekar, a newly elected Congress corporator from Kubernagar ward in Ahmedabad, faces serious allegations of forgery related to her school leaving certificate. The Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO), Rohit Chaudhary, has directed the school to file a police complaint after an inquiry revealed that the certificate she submitted was fabricated. The certificate claimed Kodekar, formerly Kalpana Surajbhai Navlekar, studied at Krishnanagar Vidhya Vihar Higher Secondary School and left in 1990. However, discrepancies were found, including that the GR number and LC number belonged to other individuals, and the signature was allegedly forged. The school confirmed it never issued such a certificate. Despite the DEO's directive, no FIR had been filed as of late Monday, leaving the responsibility to the school management to initiate criminal proceedings. This controversy casts a shadow over Kodekar's recent electoral win, raising questions about her legitimacy as a corporator.
