On Thursday, the Karnataka Cabinet ratified its earlier decisions regarding internal reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), confirming modifications aimed at enhancing recruitment efficiency. Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil announced that the Cabinet will implement internal reservation within the 15% SC quota in specified proportions, utilizing a 400-point roster system. If fewer than three roster points for SC arise, all 101 Scheduled Caste communities will compete under the general SC category. The Cabinet's decision also includes the withdrawal of previous recruitment notifications that did not adhere to the new internal reservation policy. Patil noted that urgent actions will be taken to fill 56,432 approved posts. This decision follows previous Cabinet resolutions on April 16 and April 24, which aimed to clear long-standing recruitment issues and establish a revised internal reservation formula. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that the SC quota remains at 15%, adhering to the constitutional ceiling established in the Indra Sawhney case.
