The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to modernize its crime data management through a partnership with South Korea, aimed at improving investigative processes and response times. A recent agreement was signed between the PNP and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) with the Korea International Cooperation Agency to develop the Criminal Investigation Data Management and Analysis System (CIDMAS). This platform will unify various crime-related databases, enhancing law enforcement operations nationwide. PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that the collaboration will enable the adoption of advanced methodologies in big-data crime analysis and strategic monitoring. By consolidating separate crime databases, CIDMAS will streamline data verification and improve coordination among law enforcement units, allowing faster access to critical information for field investigators. Nartatez highlighted that this modernization is expected to significantly reduce reaction times and increase case resolution rates across all regions, leveraging South Korea's experience in integrated technology for proactive law enforcement and crime prevention.
