Marty Martinez has been appointed as the new girls soccer coach at Wasco High School, following a successful stint as the varsity girls tennis head coach at East High in Bakersfield, California. During his time at East, Martinez led the girls tennis team to back-to-back CIF Central Section Division III finals, winning the championship in 2025. His impressive record includes a 30-1 overall mark in 2024 and a 22-3 record in 2025, along with two South Yosemite Mountain League titles. Martinez's coaching experience in soccer is extensive; he previously directed East's girls soccer program for nine seasons, achieving a remarkable overall record of 178-47-23 and earning All-Area honors twice. He expressed gratitude for his time at East, stating, 'I’ll always be grateful to East High and cherish every coaching moment.' The Wasco Tigers, who recently finished their season with a 10-12-1 record, are looking forward to Martinez's leadership as they aim for improvement in upcoming competitions.
