In the lead-up to the first phase of elections in West Bengal, Abhishek Banerjee (national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress) has directed party workers to enhance their door-to-door outreach. This campaign strategy aims to engage not only TMC supporters but also those of rival parties such as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During a virtual meeting attended by over 30,000 party workers, Banerjee emphasized the importance of explaining the benefits of the Trinamool government’s social welfare schemes and development initiatives. He expressed confidence in the party's electoral prospects, urging workers to work harder than in previous elections. Additionally, party members have been alerted to monitor electronic voting machines (EVMs) closely, reporting any malfunctions and alleged intimidation by central forces on polling day. The political atmosphere in West Bengal is charged, with both TMC and BJP ramping up their campaign activities, including rallies led by prominent leaders.
