The Shimla government reacted strongly to a protest by lawyers that blocked roads and caused severe traffic congestion for several hours. He noted that no special exemptions are allowed for any group and that recent increases in permit fees are intended to regulate vehicle access, not generate revenue. The Chief Minister has proposed forming a committee to address the lawyers' concerns, questioning the need for a protest when discussions were possible. Following the protest, the police registered a case against those involved, indicating that legal action will be taken.
