Arafat Minhas has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first bowler from Pakistan to take a five-wicket haul on his One Day International (ODI) debut. This remarkable feat occurred during the first ODI against Australia at Rawalpindi, where Minhas recorded impressive bowling figures of 5 wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs, helping to limit Australia to a total of just 200 runs. Previously, the best debut figures for a Pakistani bowler were held by Zakir Hussain, who took 4 wickets for 19 runs against New Zealand in 1984. In the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first, quickly reducing Australia to 68 for 4. A resilient partnership between Matthew Short and Matt Renshaw, who scored 55 and 61 runs respectively, helped Australia recover somewhat. However, Pakistan's batting was anchored by Babar Azam, who scored 69 runs, and Ghazi Ghori, who added 65 runs, allowing Pakistan to successfully chase down the target with five wickets in hand and 45 balls to spare. The second ODI of the three-match series is scheduled to take place in Lahore on Tuesday.
