A tragic accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant resulted in the deaths of eight workers and injuries to several others following a leak of molten steel. The incident occurred at the SMS-2 and STC-3 heat facility during the transportation of molten steel when ladle wires snapped, causing an explosion and a subsequent fire. Both company employees and outsourced workers were among the deceased. The local police and plant personnel responded swiftly to control the situation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his shock and directed officials to implement relief measures. Meanwhile, State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has been actively coordinating medical assistance for the injured and overseeing rescue operations. Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed his condolences and called for a thorough investigation into the incident, stressing the importance of worker safety in industrial settings. He urged authorities to ensure that such tragedies do not recur by adhering to safety standards.
