In a troubling case from Govindpuri, southeast Delhi, a woman has been charged for allegedly filing a false complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against her father. The incident is linked to an ongoing property dispute within the family. On April 11, police received multiple emergency calls regarding a dispute at a residence in Tughlakabad Extension. Initially, the calls reported house-breaking and theft, but an inquiry revealed it was a civil matter. The following day, the woman accused her father of molesting her minor daughter. However, she delayed providing a statement and later refused to present the child for questioning. A police team, including a female officer, visited their home and spoke with the child, who denied any inappropriate behavior by her grandfather and mentioned that her mother had made similar false claims in the past. Medical examinations at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) confirmed no signs of sexual assault. Consequently, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Kalkaji denied custody to the mother and placed the child in protective custody. On April 14, police initiated legal proceedings against the woman for allegedly misleading authorities with false allegations.
