Apple's anticipated AirPods with built-in cameras have reportedly reached the design validation testing (DVT) stage, as confirmed by tech analyst Mark Gurman. Initially revealed in February, these next-generation earbuds are undergoing internal prototype testing. Following DVT, they will enter production validation testing (PVT), where early mass-production units will be created. Although the hardware is nearly finalized, there may be delays related to the AI experience, particularly concerning Siri's capabilities. Originally expected to launch in the first half of this year, the timeline has shifted due to these technical adjustments. The new AirPods, possibly named AirPods Ultra, are designed to utilize the camera to enhance Siri's understanding of the user's environment. The overall design will closely mirror the current AirPods Pro 3, with slight modifications to accommodate the camera hardware.
