SkyHop Aviation is set to launch India's first dedicated commercial seaplane services after receiving its Air Operator Certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. This certification marks a significant milestone for the company, which aims to enhance regional air connectivity, particularly in areas where traditional airport infrastructure is limited. Following successful test flights at locations such as the Ganga Barrage in Rishikesh and Tehri Lake in Uttarakhand, SkyHop plans to initiate operations with a 19-seater aircraft connecting five islands in Lakshadweep with the mainland. Avani Singh, the Founder and CEO of SkyHop, emphasized the importance of this milestone, noting that it allows the company to move forward confidently in providing a safe and reliable travel option. Seaplanes, designed to operate on water, will help connect remote regions, thereby improving accessibility and contributing to national integration. The service is expected to offer a practical and memorable travel experience for passengers.
