Windows 11 users are currently facing a significant issue where updates have been blocked since February, following the installation of the January Preview Update. This bug has prevented users from receiving crucial security updates, raising concerns as the expiration of Secure Boot certificates approaches. According to reports from BleepingComputer, affected systems display error code 0x80010002 during the update process, indicating a failure to download updates despite their availability. Users can check their update history through Settings to confirm if they are impacted. Microsoft is investigating the issue, which appears to be related to changes in download timeout requirements and possibly strict firewall rules that disrupt communication with update servers. As a temporary measure, users are advised to perform a Known-Issue Rollback (KIR) to revert their systems to a state before the problematic update was installed. This rollback is primarily aimed at IT administrators, but home users can also attempt to remove the faulty January preview update. Known-Issue Rollbacks are available for Windows 11 versions 26H1 (KB5083806), 24H2, 25H2, and Windows Server 2025 (KB5083631).
