The Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services has issued a closure notice to Sukira Aesthetics, a cosmetology clinic located in Vadavalli, Coimbatore, due to significant violations of health regulations. The notice, dated May 13, 2026, followed an inspection conducted on April 29 after complaints were lodged by the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), Tamil Nadu branch. During the inspection, it was found that only a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree holder was present, lacking the qualifications necessary for performing hair transplantation. The clinic also did not have an anaesthetist, plastic surgeon, or dermatologist on staff, and only one registered nurse was available. Furthermore, the clinic failed to possess the required certificates under the Tamil Nadu Clinical Establishments (Regulation) Act (TNCEA) and lacked a memorandum of understanding with any hospital for emergency services. The inspection revealed that the minor operation theatre was not maintained according to norms, and the clinic's biomedical waste management agreement had expired. Following these findings, the clinic management was instructed to remain closed until all necessary certifications and permissions are obtained. The notice warned of potential further action under TNCEA if the clinic violates these instructions. The Chief Medical Officer of the Government Hospital in Thondamuthur has been directed to take appropriate action through law enforcement if any violations occur.
