During a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, Capt. Brijesh Chowta, the MP for Dakshina Kannada, criticized the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for failing to address encroachments on national highways. He instructed NHAI to enlist the help of local police and the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to remove these encroachments, which he stated are particularly prevalent between Pumpwell and Thokkottu, especially around Farangipet. Chowta highlighted that these structures and shops pose a significant threat to traffic flow, urging immediate action to enhance safety on the highways.
