During a recent visit to RK Ashram Marg Metro station, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans to develop the station as a major interchange hub linking the operational Blue Line with the Magenta Line. This station is part of the 28.92-km corridor from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg, which is currently under construction as part of Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro project. Gupta highlighted that sections of the corridor, particularly between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension, as well as from Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park, have already been opened to commuters. The project is designed to traverse densely populated areas in West, North, and Central Delhi, significantly reducing travel times and alleviating traffic congestion while also contributing to lower pollution levels. The construction involves nearly 7 km of twin tunnels and six underground stations, including RK Ashram Marg. Despite challenging geological conditions, the project is progressing well with advanced technology ensuring minimal disruption to surface traffic. Gupta also mentioned future plans to extend the Magenta Line to Inderlok, which will improve connectivity to Central Delhi and important administrative areas. Upon completion, the Magenta Line will span approximately 88.4 km with 65 stations, making it the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network and fully driverless.
