Will Smith is set to star in 'Supermax', an action-thriller directed by David Gordon Green, which follows two FBI agents investigating a murder within the world's most secure prison. Amazon MGM Studios has acquired worldwide rights to the film for a reported $70 million, emphasizing its commitment to streaming releases over traditional theatrical ones. Production is scheduled to commence in mid-August, with the screenplay penned by David Weil and David J Rosen, both of whom have previously collaborated on successful series like 'Hunters' and 'Invasion'. The Picture Company, led by Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, will handle production duties, while Smith's Westbrook banner will also produce alongside Adam Fishbach. This project marks a significant collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax, as several executives from Miramax, including CEO Jonathan Glickman and President of Film Alexandra Loewy, are involved as executive producers. Green, recognized for his work on the Halloween franchise, is poised to create the biggest-budget film of his career with 'Supermax'.
