Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the BJP Kerala president, announced that the party has secured two Legislative Assembly seats in the state, specifically from Nemom and Chathannoor constituencies. This victory serves as a response to the Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) claims that the BJP would not win any seats. As per the Election Commission data, BJP candidate B B Gopakumar from Chathannoor was leading by over 4,400 votes, while Chandrasekhar himself was ahead in Nemom by over 4,100 votes after significant rounds of counting. Chandrasekhar emphasized that this election was a rejection of the CPI(M) due to public dissatisfaction with corruption allegations, particularly concerning gold misappropriation linked to Sabarimala. He also noted that the recent Assembly elections across India, including in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, indicated a shift against the INDI Alliance, with the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead in over 100 seats compared to the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front, which was leading in less than 40 seats.
