Sudesh Kumar Dhawan, a celebrated actor in both Hindi and South Indian cinema, passed away at the age of 95 on May 1, 2026, following a brain stroke. He had been hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai from April 20 to April 30 after suffering the stroke two weeks prior. Despite initial treatment, he returned home for continued care, where he eventually passed away. Born on March 17, 1931, Kumar initially pursued a science degree but shifted his focus to acting, starting with Prithviraj Kapoor's theatre group. He gained fame for his lead role in the tragic romantic film 'Saranga' and appeared in notable films such as 'Chhoti Bahen', 'Bharosa', and 'Khandan'. In addition to acting, he ventured into film production, with his last project being 'Jaan Hatheli Pe'. He is survived by his wife Jaya and daughter Mishika, and a prayer meet will be held on May 4, 2026, at FPH Banquets Hall in Mumbai.
