Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Punjab, India, has taken significant steps towards energy conservation by opting for public and electric transport for his official duties. In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal for judicious use of petroleum resources amidst geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, Kataria has committed to refraining from petrol and diesel vehicles every Wednesday. On a recent occasion, he traveled by electric bus to Baltana for a foundation stone laying ceremony and later used an electric golf cart to reach the UT Secretariat in Chandigarh. The Governor underscored the importance of conserving natural resources and urged citizens to contribute to this cause through small initiatives that can lead to substantial change. He called on the Chandigarh Administration and the general public to adopt public transport, electric vehicles, bicycles, and other sustainable modes of transport. Kataria expressed his intention to encourage the Punjab Government to implement similar eco-friendly measures after witnessing the positive impact of these initiatives in Chandigarh. He thanked the public for their positive response to the Prime Minister's appeal, emphasizing that collective efforts are essential to address future challenges.
